Last week was an exciting week for PC gamers as Steam Next Fest showcased more upcoming games than even we at NAG could get our hands on. That doesn’t mean we tried to conquer as many demos as possible before the event ends this evening at 6 PM.
After many hours of good times, bad times and not-really-sure-what times, here are a few games that stood out for us at the NAG office that we can’t wait to see come to fruition in the hopefully near future.
Wild Woods
Release Date: To be Announced
Genre: Co-Op, Casual Action Game
Steam Link
Wild Woods is an exciting indie action game from Octofox Games. The idea is relatively simple, but the execution makes it a fun little game to kill a few hours on with a friend or two and a few extra randoms.
The goal is to protect your wagon as you make your way through the woods, encountering dangerous woodland critters ready to steal your goods. During the day, collect as many resources to bolster your defences as possible because, at night, thieving bunnies and greedy badgers rally together to take your team of feline friends on.
The Precinct
Release Date: Q4 2024
Genre: Action, Cop Simulator
Steam Link
Paying homage to 1980s noir cop films, The Precinct puts players in the boots of a rookie cop fresh out of the academy. While you attempt to figure out how your father was killed in the line of duty, you will engage with a variety of criminals in the lively city that never sleeps, Averno.
From hot pursuits on foot, in your squad vehicle or even from a helicopter to setting up roadblocks and calling in reinforcements using the game’s in-depth backup system, there is always something for you to do in The Precinct.
Thanks to the game’s sandboxed crimes, detailed and dynamic weather system, and fluctuating day-night cycle, there is always something to keep you on your toes.
Supervive
Release Date: Q4 2024
Genre: MOBA Battle Royale
Steam Link
The next MOBA game hoping to make waves in the scene, Supervive, held its first 24/7 stint during Steam Next Fest this past week, showing off its Fortnite meets League of Legends, high-action gameplay to the world.
Developed by Theorycraft, a team formed by a few ex-Riot employees, Supervive hopes to up the action of your typical MOBA by introducing more teams, making the map infinitely larger and creating a PvPvE environment where only the last team standing wins.
Tinker Lands
Release Date: Coming Soon
Genre: Casual Open World Survival
Steam Link
If Maple Story met Minecraft in a bar and had a pixel art baby, it would be Tinker Lands. Venture together or alone in this fantasy survival game where you build up your town and farm the fantastical creatures, grabbing all their dropped loot to thrive.
Craft different weapons, armours and tools to grow your village and take on harder enemies, including raid-boss level bosses that will take everything you’ve got if you take them on alone or team up online with friends and use them as bait.
Sand
Release Date: To be Announced
Genre: Action, Adventure, RPG
Steam Link
Ever wondered to yourself why, in all these survival-like games, your base is never allowed to follow you around? Well, Sand solves that problem by thrusting players into the depths of the mysterious and treacherous deserts of planet Sophie, where you design your own Trampler, a walking hub that allows you to traverse the land and take on other enemy players.
In this steam-punk-esque version of an alternate universe set back in 1910, will you be able to construct the ultimate Trampler and undeniably call yourself the new ruler of Sophie, or will the chaos of this desolate world prove to be too much for you?
And with that, we can officially call the October Edition of Steam Next Fest a success, as we’ve made our way through multiple demos and added even more games to our wishlists.
With almost everything proving to be an exciting game to play, the future looks bright for anyone who plays games.
