Now, let me start this off by saying that Old School Runescape and I were never friends. Still, I look at it and wish that wasn’t the case because I genuinely feel like I’m missing out on getting to experience a whole second job just by playing it.
As fans of MMOs will know, the genre is no stranger to grind, but Old School Runescape is an entirely different ballgame. It’s not a game with grind; it’s a game forged from it that relishes in it.
So, if you’ve ever wanted to dedicate more hours to killing a simple foe than you do to your family, pets, partner and other hobbies combined, this news is sure to excite you: Jagex has just announced Project Zanaris – the studio’s name for customized OSRS community-run servers, where players will be able to design the parameters for the Runescape grind themselves.

In layman’s terms, this means that Project Zanaris will offer officially supported OSRS private servers on which players can tweak different elements to create a brand-new gameplay experience.
As for the cost breakdown of running a private community server? Besides your will to live, Jagex has said they’re still working out the total cost breakdown and that hosting a server will vary in price based on player cap.
Do we have any Old School Runescape players here? And if so, how were you able to tear yourself away for long enough to read this post? Let me know in the comments, and grind on, Runescapers, grind on!
