It’s official: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now in full release, and to the surprise of no one (especially not Henry Cavill), the game is already a massive success. Within just a few hours of its full launch, the game had already seemingly effortlessly sailed well past 225,000 concurrent players on Steam and holds a very positive rating across more than 27,000 user reviews.
Now, having 225,000 concurrent players is already a crazy feat. Still, it’s even wilder when you consider that the game was released in the middle of the American workday and on a Monday workday, no less. So, if you were stuck in a long queue yesterday while the person at the counter was click, clicking away behind their PC, now you know why.
This middle-of-a-work-day success is also a major bounce-back for Space Marine 2, which was sitting at a mixed review on Steam when the advanced access period first went live on September 5.
However, many of these negative reviews were just prompted by Epic Online Services installation, and the review-bombing campaign was short-lived when players realised that linking accounts is entirely optional.
There is also quite an exciting lineup of content heading to the game, with four seasons of paid cosmetics and free gameplay updates planned, including new maps, weapons, enemies, and a horde mode.

The first major Space Marine 2 update is set to roll out later this week with multiple crash fixes and improvements aimed at addressing CPU overheating, server issues, and render bugs.
Have you been playing Space Marine 2 while at the office, “working”? Let me know in the comments.
