Intel has unveiled its Lunar Lake series of processors ahead of IFA, the largest consumer and electronics show in the world, taking place in Berlin this week.
Named the Intel Core Ultra 200V series, this new ultra-low power mobile SoC promises to deliver ” breakthrough x86 power efficiency”, the fastest mobile CPU cores around and up to 30% faster gaming performance compared to Qualcomm and AMD’s mobile chipsets. Intel also claims that Lunar Lake will consume 50% less power than Meteor Lake, its predecessor.

These are bold claims that we’ll certainly be putting to the test, but looking at Intel’s benchmark methodology, these numbers look pretty close to what consumers will be able to expect when it hits the mainstream market on the 24th of September.
Intel says that it will have the fastest CPU core, the best AI performance, and the world’s best built-in GPU, compared to any competing product on the market today.

“Intel’s newest Core Ultra processors set the industry standard for mobile AI and graphics performance, and smash misconceptions about x86 efficiency. Only Intel has the scale through our partnerships with ISVs and OEMs, and the broader technology ecosystem, to provide consumers with a no-compromise AI PC experience,” said Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group.
On the gaming front, Intel claims Lunar Lake is 31% faster in games compared to its predecessor, Meteor Lake, and for some titles, this number could be as high as 80%. Combine this with the improved battery life and it seems gamers will actually be able to game on a notebook battery for a decent amount of time.

Intel also spoke about improved XeSS support, with over 120 games now giving gamers better upscaling and improved performance in these popular titles.

Intel says it has worked closely with its partners to bring a number of new notebooks to market. Here is what some of them had to say:
