It seems Deadlock is handing out changes like candy, and those who have been playing the game were met with a seemingly innocuous 683MB patch this morning. Now, if you’re wondering what that patch might contain, it’s not as easy as just heading over to the usual Events and Announcements tab in Steam.
In truly hard-to-understand moves, Deadlock, a game designed by Valve, the creators of Steam, wants to rage against every rule it has created. Yesterday, it was the rules concerning game pages, and today, it’s patch notes.
Instead of being housed in Steam’s Events and Announcements section like all other games, the patch notes need to be accessed on a completely different forum, which you can only access by generating a password from the main menu of Deadlock itself.

However, woke-up-and-chose-violence aside, the patch notes are… a lot. The core changes implemented are to encourage more vertical play, with a new wall jump move that doesn’t cost stamina, and the addition of ropes around the map, which lead to the rooftops and which you can shoot from while climbing.
To complement this, some buildings now have additional passages through upper floors that lead to rooftops, and there are more teleporters. The way pausing is handled has also been changed. Players can now pause just one time per match, and a team can pause three times in total.
These changes are also only the tip of the iceberg, with over 100 changes implemented in total that cover everything from bullet resistance against NPCs increasing from 30% to 35% to the spirit shield buff rising from +80 to +85. Now, I would have included the link here to the full patch notes, but you know… Deadlock.
Have you been playing the game? If so, what are your thoughts, feelings, and everything else? Let me know in the comments.
