Back in October of 2021, when I sat down to write a review of Psychonauts 2, I summed the whole experience up as:
While there is undoubtedly a lot to be said for the allure of nostalgia, it ultimately comes down to that Psychonauts 2 is just a great game – regardless of whether you’re a returning player or discovering the series for the first time.
So when Double Fine and 2 Player Productions released a 22-hour documentary about Psychonauts 2 last October, I was on it like my dog on scraps falling in the kitchen.
But in a surprise twist I never saw coming, a surprise final episode that covers the game’s reception, how the team recovered afterwards, and what might come next for the Microsoft-owned studio was just dropped – more than a year after the documentary first aired.
