Back in April, I covered the news that REDkit modding tools were finally coming to The Witcher 3 after almost a decade of impatient waiting.
Now the tools are here, and as expected, the results are worthy of only the finest bards’ songs. So far, we’ve seen an extended version of the ending in which Yennefer pulls off a shocking betrayal, among other smaller but extremely fabulous finds and additions.
The latest of these comes to us the courtesy of modder MerseyRockoff, who found the audio and text files for a cut series of quests where Geralt could enter a string of boat races, and then MerseyRockoff did what any modder worth their salt would; he set about recreating them.
The races in question will have gamers choose between representing Novigrad or Redania across four tournaments: the Novigrad Regatta, the Oxenfurt Regatta, the Helmsman’s Dash, and the Rally of the Wrecks.
If you want to try your Witcher hand at boat racing, you can follow the link to the mod here. After you’ve downloaded the mod, you just need to put the modBoatRaces folder in the Mods subdirectory of your Witcher 3 install and the dlcBoatRaces folder in the DLC folder of your install.
