Sometimes, developers decide to break a few rules in the game development sphere and attempt to meld two genres of gameplay into one. Smite immediately comes to mind as one of the first first-person MOBAs to hit the scene and has since seen some significant success.
Elodie Games is looking to do something similar, combining two popular genres into an exciting new game, Seekers of Skyveil.
The top-down, isometric-style gameplay from games like Diablo, DoTA or League of Legends combines with the extraction gameplay of games like Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown to bring this exciting 3v3v3 take on the combination of genres. And they are running a playtest this very weekend, so you can decide for yourself if it’s got that Chemical X that keeps players coming back for more.
Signing up for the playtest is as easy as requesting access through your Steam account. It usually takes about a day for your account to be confirmed, so make sure you’ve requested access before Thursday so you can hop right into the servers when they go live during the wee hours of Saturday morning at 2 AM.
The new playtest will feature a few updates to the game, including a capped map—a smaller version of the game’s map—to help newcomers get into the swing of killing, looting, and extracting.
Let us know in the comments below if Seekers of Skyveil is up your alley or if you’d rather spend your time playing something else, like Solitaire or Microsoft Excel.
