The developers behind MultiVersus have released a statement today saying that the option that appeared in the game, which allowed players to purchase extra lives with real-world money, was just a surprise “bug” and not, in fact, a money-grabbing feature.
Last week, Warner Bros. rolled out a new campaign mode for MultiVersus, which included the ability to replenish lives with real money. I apologise; I meant to say that it included a weird, strange “bug.”
This “bug” offered players a way to buy six lives for 1,000 Gleamium in-game currency. This bundle costs $10, and the cost to buy the lives was 1,004 Gleamium, meaning players would need to buy two separate bundles to re-live themselves.
But this morning, in a message posted to X, the developers, Player First Games, had this to say:
We’d also like to let you know that the option to purchase extra lives is a bug that has been addressed and is not an intended feature in the game.
It’s worth noting that this bug is not mentioned in the newly released patch notes, and Warner Bros has just decided to remain silent.
But you know what? The bug, feature, whatever the case may be, is gone, and really, isn’t that all that matters?
