There is little that irks me more than browsing through Steam and seeing games that should absolutely not be there, and Banana is definitely one of those games.
In case you haven’t yet had the displeasure of Banana for yourself, allow me to break it down for you: Banana is a free-to-play “game” where players sit and click on a static jpeg of a banana… over and over and over again.
But where this story goes… bananas… is the fact that this game is currently charting at number 47 of the most played games on the platform, which means it’s just under Cyberpunk 2077. It’s got more active players than Diablo 4.
So, if, like me, you can’t understand how Banana managed to attract 31,124 players, I just don’t know what to tell you. Some research revealed that games like Banana are all about raking in those sweet Steam items and then selling them for real-world money.

Players who jump into the game a few times a day should rake in a bunch of items every day. Opening and playing for one-minute nets players an item; after that, a banana can be collected every three hours.
After giving up on life, joy, and everything else good and spending an hour in the game, players will unlock a rare drop pool that drops a banana every 18 hours. While the common banana items don’t sell for that much, there are some special bananas, like a Diamond one, which start from $81 and go up to a couple of hundred each.
But now I want to know from you: Have you been spending your time just clicking, clicking away? Or do you think all this is bananas? Let me know in the comments.
