Dragon Quest has been a successful JRPG franchise gracing our digital screens for almost 40 years. Back in 2021, Square Enix announced that they would remake Dragon Quest 3 in a stunning art style similar to that of Octopath Traveller, or HD-2D, as they like to call it.
However, we haven’t heard much of the remake since then until Square Enix dropped a short teaser on their social media channels earlier this week.
The legend of Erdrick draws near.

What makes the teaser more interesting is that there is no mention of “Dragon Quest 3”; instead, there is just a Dragon Quest logo with the caption “The legend of Erdrick draws near.”
The legend of Erdrick occurs across the first three entries in the Dragon Quest series, not just the third game, which leads us to believe that Square Enix might just be dropping a nice, juicy, triple-stacked remaster on us when they officially announce the HD-2D Dragon Quest project they’ve been working on.
Check out the official trailer released three years ago, which shows off the graphic update from the original 1988 game to the new HD-2D version.
