Ghost of Tsushima Automatically Refunded in Over 170 Countries

Ghost of Tsushima, The Directors Cut, is planned for a PC launch on the 16th of May. However, just days after Sony started and ended a war between themselves and the Helldivers community over PSN requirements, gamers who have pre-ordered Ghost of Tsushima are receiving automatic refunds if they stay in a country that doesn’t support PSN.

This comes after an announcement from Sucker Punch Productions stated that gamers will not require a PSN account to play the single-player mode of the game but will require one if they choose to play the Legends multiplayer mode.

By the looks of things, it’s Sony who has issued the order to the digital storefronts to automatically refund the game, as it was them who removed Helldivers 2 previously.

On Steam, people receive a refund message stating: “You are receiving a refund for a game you pre-purchased – Ghost of Tsushima. The publisher of this game is now requiring a secondary account to play portions of this game – and this account cannot be created from your country.”

While it’s never fun to be locked out of playing a game due to restrictions as weird as linking a PSN account, at least this time, there has been a few days’ notice before gamers have their hard-earned money taken away from them, only to find out some features of the game will be restricted later on.

If you have pre-ordered Ghost of Tsushima in South Africa, there doesn’t seem to be any reason to worry, as we’re not one of the 170-plus countries that cannot create PSN accounts.
