Bungie is back, baby, or at the very least, they’re trying to make their comeback while reinforcing a new, good-guy persona.
In October last year, Bungie started a debilitating industry trend by laying off a substantial section of its staff amid the delay in the final Shape expansion.
But that was then, and this is now, and Bungie is desperately trying to regain gamers’ trust by giving them exactly what they want: free things.
Over the last few months, Destiny’s Onslaught horde mode has been proving to be super popular, but players are still counting down the days until The Final Shape, the conclusion of a 10-year-long story arc, releases on the 3rd of June.
Bungie has now revealed that to try and attract some old players and even new ones to the game, all the expansions, bar the latest one, will be free until The Final Shape launches.
That means Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen are free, along with their campaigns and raids. PlayStation Plus members also get access to the Lightfall expansion.
Bungie is also making a substantial chunk of seasonal content free:
In addition to the expansions, all Seasonal content from Destiny Year 6 is available to all players through the 3rd of June, which includes: Season of Defiance, Season of the Deep, Season of the Witch, and Season of the Wish.
But now I want to hear from you. Will you be diving into The Final Shape when it is released? Let me know in the comments.
