Escape From Tarkov Dev Caves: People Who Paid $150 For The Game Will Get Access To Its New Mode After All

Escape From Tarkov Dev Caves, People Who Paid $150 For The Game Will Get Access To Its New Mode After All

After two previous, yet unsuccessful, attempts to put out of fires of player rage, developer Battlestate has finally seen the light (and impending doom of their own making) and announced that the new $250 version of Escape From Tarkov that boasts an exclusive PvE mode, will be able to players who previously bought the $150 Edge of Darkness edition of the game that promised access to “all future DLCs.”

In a statement released on the Tarkov subreddit early this morning or late last night, depending on your time zone, Battlestate said that they are “very sorry that fans and the game community, in general, are experiencing these feelings” which is very much in the same vain as the typical gaslighting “well, I’m sorry my shitty actions have made YOU feel that way.”

They also added that this negative response would factor into future decision-making. Good.

So, as it stands now, gamers who purchased the $150 Edge of Darkness edition of the game will receive access to the PvE mode with no further payment or time limit during early access.

The PvE mode will also receive mod support on Tarkov’s 1.0 release, and Battlestate will iron out a new list of additional benefits for Edge of Darkness edition owners while also removing the controversial “preferred matchmaking” proposal.

“We will continue to work on patches, new content, events, and the game release itself no matter what.”

While these newly proposed changes address many of the primary complaints, it’s hard not to feel like it all comes too late. This new proposal comes a full week after fans have had to literally throw their toys out of the proverbial cot just to be heard.

Most of the comments on the Tarkov subreddit right now express dissatisfaction with the statement, with many pointing out that “I’m sorry you felt this way” is in no way an actual apology. Many feel it’s just a matter of time before Battlestate tries to pull a move like this again.

But now I want to know your feelings about this. Has Battlestate truly seen the error of their ways, or are they just trying to crawl back into fans’ good graces to strike again further down the line? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
