The Fallout TV Show Has The Coolest Easter Egg: A Working Phone Number That You Can Call Or Message

Okay, so I shouldn’t have to say this, but who knows, maybe like Lucy, you too are a nieve vault dweller and need it to be said, so here goes:

This is an Easter egg post, which naturally means there will be spoilers. If you don’t want spoilers, then what are you waiting for? Go and binge-watch the Fallout TV Show and come back. I’ll wait.

Okay, so now that we’ve sorted that out, let’s dive into it. The Fallout TV show has one of the coolest Easter eggs hidden in it that we can remember in recent memory. There is an actual, working Vault-Tec phone number that can be called or messaged for another Easter egg! Egg-ception, if you will.

The show is filled with a variable megaton of Easter eggs and surprises to uncover, which we’ll explore in another post, but for now, I want to point you to a Vault-Tec phone number that appears on-screen in Episode 6 and has the internet doing what it does best—trying to figure out what it could possibly mean.

In the sixth episode of the show, Cooper Howard hosts an infomercial about vaults. In that infomercial, he encourages viewers at home to get in touch to secure a vault. The number he directs everyone to is: 213-25-VAULT or 213-258-2858.

What makes this interesting is that if you message or phone the number, you’ll get through and from there, the mystery only deepens. Once you call the number, you’ll hear the sounds of someone, presumably, being tortured.

There are frantic cries and screams, and then the call disconnects—which is never a good sign. However, if you message the number, you’ll receive something far more ominous, albeit on the surface, less terrifying: a return message from Vault-Tec themselves.

The return message you’ll receive reads:

Thank you for texting Vault-Tec. The next available appointment is 33 weeks from now, please stand by!

If you then opt-in, a second message will read:

Congratulations! We may or may not be in touch if an appointment becomes available.

Now, this on its own is a pretty exciting little tidbit, but all around the world, people are taking to the internet to wonder if it means more.

Some believe that the 33-week timeframe given in the message simply refers back to Vault 33. This is fair but boring.

Others and this is where it gets interesting, are speculating that in 33 weeks, in November if you prefer, Fallout will be dropping the bomb (excuse the pun) by announcing a new game or TV adaptation.

But now we want to hear from you. What do you think? Is there more to the message than just a cute little gimmick to tie into the show?

Let us know in the comments, and if you enjoyed this post, stick around for other Easter egg posts coming just as soon as our spot in the good Vault has been confirmed.
