Pac-Man: Battle Royale, Coming Soon to a Maze Near You

Sure, Fortnite has some Pac-Man back bling, but does it actually let you waka-waka your way around a maze, smash pills in your face, chomp down ghosties and even enemy Pac-Men? I didn’t think so.

Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs is the battle royale of the future, or rather, the battle royale of 1980.

Originally released as a Stadia exclusive, Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle has escaped the grave of the dead streaming platform and will be released on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch on the 9th of May for some cross-play cannibalistic competition.

The game allows up to 64 players to compete against each other. Each maze connects to the next via the side tunnels usually used to wrap around your own maze in the traditional game. If you’ve munched down a power pill, you can get rid of not only the ghosts but also other Pac-Men.

The last Pac standing wins.

Alongside the regular power pill, players will also have the ability to snack down other power-ups, like freezing opponents, shielding themselves, or even gaining that extra boost of speed.

As with all other battle-royale-style games, the outer edge will slowly shrink in, forcing Pac-Men to make their way into other mazes to survive.

Personally, I’m all for a bit of Pac-Man warfare, so if you ever dive into the cannibalistic mazes of Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs, keep your eyes open for “1-Pac-Shakur” because I won’t be finishing second.
