There’s A New AAA Game Studio From Former Star Wars Jedi Director On The Horizon

With all the chaos happening in the game industry over the past year, it’s not uncommon to see new game studios popping up from other studios’ old employees.

Stig Asmussen has done just that. Formerly the director for Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi” Survivor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Santa Monica’s God of War III, he has decided to start his own development studio.

Called Giant Skull, the studio plans to release AAA-quality games focused on action adventure.

Asmussen said in a press release that the studio is dedicated to creating gameplay-driven, story-immersive, action-adventure games set in captivating worlds, with a significant focus on creativity and curiosity.

Of course, it’s not just Asmussen at the studio. Names like Jon Carr, Patrick Murphy, Lauren McLemore, Brian Campbell and Anthony Scott also appear on the roster.

Most also worked on the Star Wars Jedi projects but also had experience working on Valorant and Fortnite, and even worked at Rocksteady Studios before it got a little less rock steady.

It has also been said that there is already a game in the works, being built on Unreal Engine 5. All we know is it will be a single-player game and, obviously, AAA.

The Giant Skull website is live, and it cleverly runs like a command terminal, with a rumoured 120 commands for the world to discover.
