In a smart move by the Elden Ring team, max-level characters won’t be able to steamroll through Shadow of the Erdtree, thanks to the DLC using a separate levelling system borrowed from Sekiro.
During an interview with Famitsu, the Elden Ring team said that besides the regular rune-based levelling system, there would be a new Sekiro-like attack power stat for the DLC hours.
Essentially, this will make it so that players will still have that level of freedom they did in the base game when exploring and levelling up. It also means that payers will need to use this attack power stat to make a dent in the health bars of its new bosses instead of just running through and slaughtering everything in their wake based on their character level alone.

As of now, it’s hard to know just how much of a difference the attack power system will make, but we’re excited to see how it all plays out.
Everything to do with Shadows of the Erdtree will be self-contained, meaning anyone can play it, just so long as they’ve defeated the two required bosses, Radahn and Mohg, from the base game.
But now we want to hear from you. Are you excited to jump back into the world of Elden Ring when the DLC drops in June? Let us know in the comments.
