While you’re waiting for PooM to finish playing at its breathtaking 0.00003030303 FPS, you can kill some time, some grass and some hellspawn by playing Doom on your automatic robot lawnmower.
Yup, you read that right. Husqvarna will officially release a playable version of Doom on their NERA Robotic Lawnmowers on the 9th of April this year.
The game will only be playable for a limited time, though, after which another update, on the 9th of September, will remove the Doom game from your mower’s memory, saving it from the depths of hell.
The controls are pretty straightforward. The game will be shown on the mower’s on-screen display, and the control knob will be used to move Doom Guy around. Rotating the knob in either direction will rotate the screen. Click the knob to blast some bullets at the demons, and hold down the Start button to initiate forward movement. Nice and simple, like killing demons should be.
If you are a Husqvarna NERA lawnmower owner, you can pre-register for the update here. And yes, the update will be available for the South African region, but interestingly enough, not in the United States. Ha! Take that! It’s about time we weren’t left off of the map for something.
