Larian Wants Official Mod Support, Just Like You

There’s only one way to make a perfect game even perfecter. Mods. While Baldur’s Gate 3 is no stranger to mods, whenever Larian posts a hotfix or a patch, those beloved mods from the community start bugging out.

After a recent hotfix to the game broke one of the modding community’s most popular tools, Norbyte’s BG3 Script Extender, essentially an in-game log console, Michael Douse sent out a post on X with some news.

In his post, Douse explained how Larian is working on an official system that will support modding Baldur’s Gate 3. Once implemented, updates and hotfixes shouldn’t wholly break mods that some gamers may currently use or want to use.

In a comment beneath the post, Douse goes on further to say that they already have something, but it just needs to be tested and worked on before Larian is happy to release it. He also mentions joining their Discord for more updates.

In the Discord, one of the senior community members, WombatMedic, says that the official mod system will come with the game’s next major update, which is still a few months away. Until then, Larian promises to be more open with their upcoming patches and hotfixes and to communicate with the modding community in hopes that fewer mods will break with each update.
