Well, shoot.
It sounds like Murphey was listening in on all of us talking about a September 2024 release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 and has decided to lay down the law.
According to rumours and leaks from VGC, Bloomberg and Eurogamer sources, Nintendo’s next console launch has been pushed back to “Q1 of 2025”.
The rumours point towards the lack of major titles being released by Nintendo in 2024. They suggest that the launch date was pushed back to coincide with the release of a more comprehensive range of games to play on the new console.
With only a Princess Peach title expected to launch in March and two Mario and Luigi ports slated for 2024, the lack of heavy-hitting titles makes these rumours look true. Although the previous rumours said September, and now look what we’re reading.
No word has come out of Nintendo themselves just yet, but the rumours have already started affecting their stock prices, so I’m sure they’ll be announcing something within the next few weeks.
We previously covered everything we thought we knew about the new Switch console in a post just last week. However, from now on, we’ll be sure to use the double-finger quotes whenever talking about the console launch date so that we don’t accidentally trigger Murphey and his law again.
Are you just as bummed as we are about the launch date pushback? Let us know in the comments below.
