With all the focus on Microsoft and Xbox planning to clarify their multi-platform plans for the coming future, Sony found it the right time to announce the same.
In an investor Q&A, Hiroki Totoki, President of Sony, mentioned wanting to “aggressively” improve the margin performance gap by utilising multi-platform games.
Totoki suggested that marketing Sony’s first-party titles on other platforms, like PC, could be a way to cash in on these games without offering significant discounts or other forms of cost-lowering to improve sales.
“If you have strong first-party content — not only on our console but also on other platforms, like computers — a first-party [game] can be grown with multi-platform, and that can help operating profit to improve, so that’s another one we want to proactively work on.”
The one difference between Xbox and PlayStation here is that PlayStation only seems to want to release their games on PC, not Xbox or Nintendo, unlike Xbox, which is looking to get their games on every screen.

While everyone is up in arms about Xbox going multi-platform, on the other side of the coin, gamers are pretty happy to hear that PlayStation’s first-party titles would be coming to PC a lot sooner than Herman Hulst initially mentioned back in 2022. “At least a year” was the comment made by Hulst, but with Totoki’s new aggressive strategy, we could see that number cut down quite significantly.
There was no clear mention of how long first-party PlayStation titles would take to come to PC after being released on PlayStation, but I highly doubt that we’ll be seeing any same-day releases just yet.
