It seems impossible, but Hearthstone is already ten whole years old. It’s funny because it seems too long on the one hand, and on the other, I can’t remember a time before it.
Yesterday, Blizzard announced what players can expect from the game’s tenth anniversary, dubbed The Year of the Pegasus, which, funny enough, was the game’s codename during development.
Players who log into the game from today onwards will receive free cards. There are 12 new cards, including one Legendary. Each of the game’s 11 available classes will receive one gift card, which will cost 1-Mana and generate a temporary copy of an iconic card from your class.
Players will also receive a legendary called Harth Stonebrew, a card based on Hearthstone’s innkeeper. Since launch, it has been used in marketing materials but has never been collectable in-game.
Harth Stonebrew will cost 6-Mana and come with a once-per-game Battlecry effect that lets players replace their hand with an iconic one from Hearthstone’s past.

The fun doesn’t end with free cards, though; from the 11th of March, players can snag the new Fiery Hearthsteed mount for WoW by logging into Hearthstone. Blizzard also announced that Hearthstone matches will be popping up in WoW’s capital cities as well:
“Stick around long enough and you’ll face a special encounter where you can defeat iconic minions to add to your deck and earn other fun new Hearthstone-themed rewards!”
Then, from the 27th of February until the 19th of March, there will be an in-game Hearthstone event that drops golden versions of all the Gift cards, and then, just as the event ends, the expansion will drop.
The final part of the anniversary celebrations will be the next major expansion: Whizbang’s Workshop. This expansion will consist of 145 cards inspired by Hearthstone’s history.
