The wait is finally over; the full release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady’s expansion of their Arkhamverse, is here.
Leading up to the game’s release, Rocksteady promised plenty of hidden Easter Eggs for players to uncover and enjoy. What they didn’t say is the fuss that one of these would cause.
An Easter Egg that points to the Halo franchise can be found early in the game, roughly an hour in. And yes, you read that right; there is a Halo moment in a game where everyone expected DC-related surprises.
Before going any further, I warn you that Easter Eggs inherently mean spoilers. If you don’t want that, avert your eyes and play the game instead. For everyone else? Let’s dive into it.

Brainiac’s Metropolis
Unlike many other games, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League doesn’t just throw players into the deep end and wish for the best; your first hour of gameplay will be dedicated to learning the mechanics and finding out which character best suits you.
Scattered throughout this time, there are also plenty of small easter eggs and amusing references to discover. However, the biggest one of all these, and the moment that no one can seem to keep out of their mouths, is a subtle reference to Halo.
After completing the tutorial part of the game, players will find themselves kidnapped by none other than the Green Lantern, who takes you on an unwilling flyby of Metropolis while explaining Brainiac’s plans.
But when Green Lantern comes to a stop on a seemingly deserted road, things get interesting, fast.
Just a few seconds in, a random civilian on the road starts screaming and running away from something chasing him from the shadows. It’s not long before we see a four-legged alien creature catch up to him, latch itself onto his face, and transform him into a mutant.

Green Lantern refers to this mutant as a metahuman. Fans were quick to spot and call out all the similarities between this four-legged alien creature, Terminaut, and the alien parasites first introduced in the Halo: Combat Evolved game.
In Halo, the alien species was called ‘Flood’, and before travelling to meet them first-hand, Master Chief watches a video of some Marines who had previously encountered the parasitic alien species.
And this is where the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Easter egg comes from.
In the video, Master Chief sees a Marine attacked by one of the Flood Carriers and shouting, Get it out! Get it out!, in a scene that almost mirrors the civilian being transformed with his last human words being, Get it off! Get it off!
Not only is the dialogue pretty close, but there is also an uncanny resemblance between the alien creature, known as a Terminaut, and the alien parasites first introduced in Halo: Combat Evolved.
To top it off, The Flood also latches onto and infects people, mutating them into superhuman zombies.
But now I want to hear from you. Have you been playing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League? And if so, what is your favourite Easter Egg so far? Let us know in the comments.
