Better Get your Whips Ready for More Indy This Year

Before Indie games became popular, we had Indy games, first released in 1982 for the Atari 2600, adapted from the famous movie Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Now, more than 40 years later, we’re getting even more Indy.

Titled Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, this classic tomb-raiding game from Machine Games will feature an all-original story set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.

In typical Indiana style, the Gameplay Reveal trailer starts off with Indy stuck in a pit of sand, being antagonised by some Nazi, obviously hell-bent on taking over the work with some sort of historical artefact.

While the trailer does show off some who-cracking, puzzle-solving, hat-donning action, what’s most exciting is that the game will be played from the first-person perspective.

Since we are doing this mostly in first-person, you have the chance to truly become Indy. First-person makes you part of this world – allowing you to explore and experience things more intimately. – Jens Anderson

The development team say that by playing the game in first-person, as opposed to third-person, which a lot of action-adventure games tend to do, allows the gamer to become Indiana instead of just playing as him.

The announcement also reveals that we can expect the game to be released later this year but does not give an exact date just yet.
