You know that old saying if it looks like a duck? Well, it looks like The Day Before is the biggest duck around. After being one of Steam’s most-wanted games, The Day Before was finally released last week, and Patch 1.0.2 has already arrived; however, that’s done little to quieten the incessant quacking from the newly-released zombie game.
To give some history, in the lead-up to the game’s launch, many gamers were excited, if not confused, about the game. Despite many trailers, it was unclear what The Day Before was bringing to the table outside of being a zombie game.
From the information available before launch, the game took elements from other successful games, such as DayZ and The Division and looked to bring them together in a sort of open-world MMO. However, none of this was clear, and The Day Before was hit with numerous delays without ever shedding the light that so many gamers wanted.
This led to many believing that the game was just one giant scam. When it launched to overwhelmingly negative reviews on Steam, the scam rumour has never seemed more believable. Developer Fntastic jumped to release an update for the game, claiming that it would address the most critical issues with the game. Still, this update is the very definition of too little too late.
It turns out that The Day Before is not the open-world MMO many expected it to be pre-release; instead, it’s an extraction shooter and a broken one at that. This leads us to the next and most duck-like part of this coverage.
Following the outrage, overwhelmingly negative reviews and shouts that the game is nothing but a scam, The Day Before Discord channel has been removed, and the CEO of Fntastic, who is also the developer behind The Day Before, has deactivated his Twitter account.
Fntastic’s YouTube channel has also disappeared just four days after the game’s release, which has fueled the scam fire already catching on. To many, Fntastic seems to be attempting to distance itself from the game’s failure, with comments like “Taking the money and running, eh?” running rampant on social media.

According to Fntastic, the company is shutting down its social presence because it’s closing due to the overwhelmingly negative reception of The Day Before. Fntastic also mentioned that future updates addressing player concerns would not be on the horizon thanks to financial constraints.
This shocking turn of events has led many players to seek refunds, and it’s more likely that the studio is attempting to avoid accountability. As of writing this, The Day Before has seen a 90% drop in player count. Also, while the developers have said that the game’s servers will remain operational, for now, the future has never seemed more uncertain. Players who cannot get a refund through Steam are just left in limbo over what will happen to the burden they spend their hard-earned cash on.
Now let's see how long before the Mytona website scrubs any mention of it. https://t.co/CWUYVchgQ8
