Last week, Massive Monster, the developer behind Cult of the Lamb, announced an upcoming Sins of the Flesh update for 2024 but stressed that it would not be a sex update. However, that was last week, and times have changed.
So, to catch you up, Massive Monster announced the innocuously named Sins of the Flesh update last week. Alongside this, they released an office piece of art depicting a Gathering of cute forest cultists clothed in nothing but a strategically placed leaf.
From there, the internet and Steam forums went mad, losing their minds at the mere idea that sex would be coming to the game. When they realised it wasn’t, the conversation turned to demands and threats that the game delivers on the R-rated update many thought they were being promised.
It wasn’t long before Massive Monster tried to bring reason to the people upset that they would no longer be able to enjoy a game about performing dark rituals and killing non-believers in front of their kids by stating:
“Don’t worry, the ‘sex update’ is more of a meme in the community. One, some people are really running with ^^.
The age rating hopefully won’t change after this update, as we made sure content adheres to guidelines. Obviously everyone is different but I doubt you won’t be able to play in front of your kids if you do already!”
However, you know how they say you can never make everyone happy? Well, that happened when Massive Monster released that statement. There was so much uproar that they decided to make like Saw and invite the community to play a game.
Massive Monster then went on Xitter to say they would commit to adding sex to the game IF they reached at least 300,000 followers on Xitter by the end of the year. The bar was set high, almost impossibly so, but this is the internet, and it did what it does best – it trolled, and the goal was absolutely obliterated.

So that’s what we know as of now. Sex is coming (mind the pun), but how that’s going to work is anyone’s guess, with Massive Monster saying:
“The cult is ever-changing. Not even the Lamb can predict what the future holds.”
