Ingozi Games is a local game developer, born, bred, and fed the very same pap and wors as you and me, and now they’re taking that local flavour and putting it into a game of their own.

What better way to describe what their game, Poached: Hunt the Hunter, is than words from the mouth of the single game developer himself:
In the vast wilderness of South Africa’s Northern Province, a battle is raging between the ruthless poachers who seek to exploit the region’s natural resources and the dedicated game rangers who are determined to protect the animals and preserve the land’s beauty. “Poached: Hunt The Hunter” puts you in the shoes of a game ranger tasked with defending the nature reserve from the poachers who seek to destroy it.
Here, you must fight to survive. It’s man versus beast versus man versus man. And if you’re no stranger to danger, play as a ranger [okes a damn poet] fighting off armies of ruthless poachers with your wits, harsh language, braai tongs and an arsenal of weapons that would make any arms dealer green with envy. You wake up in your camp, make breakfast, or don’t make breakfast, get your orders and shoot poachers on sight using high-powered automatic weapons. Simple. Or chase chickens around for half an hour, grow hallucinogenic plants in the shed, spend the day barbequing lamb chops to perfection, race ostriches, or rescue lost rangers stuck in trees; I’m not going to tell you how to live your life. You play it your way. This is the Poached experience.
The game has been in early development for nearly three years now and runs a “very positive” review rating on Steam, with a free, playable demo that keeps being updated as Ingozi Games progresses. The game has just moved into Early Access on Steam for a fraction of the cost of what the main game will cost. However, Ingozi Games says that this option should only be purchased for those who are looking to be a part of the development process.
If a local game made by a single developer backed by South African voice actors and musicians featuring hilariously voiced enemies in English, Afrikaans, Sepedi & Zulu, open world, old-school FPS/RPG mechanics, and an actual Weber is something that gets your mouth watering, then be sure to visit Ingozi Games at rAge Expo this year in the Home Coded section.

Chat to the developer, experience the game and give your own, personal feedback while having a kak lekker time.
You can check out the game on Steam here while you wait for rAge to get here.
