After a six-year lull, T1 finally managed to take the win at this year’s League of Legends World Championship, bringing their total wins to four, now two cups more than closest rivals Gen. G (the old Samsung Galaxy Team).
While T1 is synonymous with victory, this year did not seem to be the year that they would take the cup, being the only team from the LCK League (League of Legends Champions Korea) to make it through to the semi-finals and face off against the big Chinese teams from LCL (League of Legends Continental League) meant they had more than an uphill battle to fight.
Add to the fact that the god-like player, Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok, faced an injury in the middle of the season, almost causing T1 to crash and burn before even making it to the semi-finals themselves and that T1 has made it to the finals and failed twice in the past six years, and this World Cup victory for the team starts to get even juicer.

T1’s climb once Faker recovered was absolutely phenomenal, and Faker himself also now has four world titles to his name. The rest of the T1 team grabbed their first title each.
As is tradition, the winning team will get custom-made skins for a champion of their choosing, and we may already have a few hints at what those champs are going to be.
Top Laner and World Finals MVP Choi “Zeus” Woo-je is unsure whether he wants to go with Yone or Jayce. I think he made more of an impact using Yone this Championship, so I’m leaning more towards him. Jungler, Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun, is opting for Lee Sin. AD Carry, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong has his eyes set on Jinx, and his Support, Ryu “Keria” Min-seok, is thinking of either Bard or Renata-Glasc. Faker has yet to decide who he wants to have a skin designed for, but my fingers are crossed for yet another Ahri skin.
With Faker signed to T1 until 2025, he could knock out another two world cups before he starts thinking about finally retiring.
