“That is my only comment” says CEO Behind Star Wars KOTOR Remake

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was one of the very first games that gave me that actual “I’m really in the Star Wars universe” feeling. It was an epic RPG franchise that has yet to be topped in the Star Wars universe, so when a remake was announced, you can bet your credits that I was very excited.

It’s been almost two years since that announcement, though, and since then, the development has seen nothing but detriment. Back in 2022, it was rumoured that the production of the remake was halted due to the board not liking the production demo and, hence, firing the art and design director.

Now, in 2023, we have only one sentence of news with regard to the KOTOR remake, made by Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors during a financial presentation.

“I notice that anything I say to this becomes a headline, so that is my only comment,”

I suppose it’s quite a bit of a stretch calling this sentence news, but by not saying anything at all, we can presume that the development of the game is not going as well as fans might be hoping.

I guess some of us will just have to ask Santa for some good KOTOR news in 2024 for Christmas. In the meantime, feel free to put the announcement trailer on repeat.
