Microsoft is getting ready to swing that ban hammer. It has its sights set on the plethora of unauthorised third-party accessories for Xbox. The mass banning is set to take place on the 12th of November, and as it stands right now, the community is unhappy.
Until now, gamers who use Xbox consoles have had the liberty to use whichever unauthorised accessories they want, from controllers to headsets. However, many games have already started to receive “connected accessory is not authorised” messages when using any of these devices.
The message further elaborated that while gamers can still use their unlicensed accessories for now, they will no longer be able to from the 12th of November onwards when Microsoft rolls out the official block.
Microsoft’s reasoning for being the Grinch and cancelling Christmas is that unauthorised hardware compromises the gamer’s experience; therefore, they’re just blanket-blocking these accessories.
From November 12, 2023, Microsoft will no longer allow unauthorized third-party accessories to be used with its Xbox consoles.
According to sources, MS plans to expand its program for approved third-party wireless Xbox controllers.

While this isn’t the best news, Microsoft is at least expanding its collection of approved third-party wireless Xbox controllers because, as of now, more of the authorised third-party controllers are wired.
This is also not the only significant change coming to Xbox. The latest update for the console saw some new features that allow gamers to import game captures to Clipchamp to edit and share to social media, as well as improving keyboard mappings and button inputs.
But now we want to know from you, what are your thoughts on Microsoft banning unofficial accessories? Let us know in the comments.
