Something I did not expect to see this year was a challenger to the infamous Gollum by Daedalic Entertainment. Skull Island: Rise of Kong is not only pitting players to become king of the island but also king of the worst game of 2023.
The game was released a couple of days ago, on the 17th of October, and users online are running it through the gauntlet.
Amassing over 30 million views, a post on X desperately attempts to tell gamers not to pick up the game by showing off a 15-second cut scene that will bring tears to your eyes, both from laughter and pain.

Considering the last game featuring the epic ape, we got was back in 2005, it’s a shame to see that Skull Island is preserved not only in the past, but so are the graphics and gameplay of the King Kong games we get.
“Gameplay” of Skull Island: Rise of Kong.
This costs 40 dollars and is made by people that make low effort shovelware with big IP franchises.

Another post showing some of the game’s gameplay also tries to show how little effort was put into developing the game.
Skull Island: Rise of Kong attempts to take players on a story of Kong enacting his revenge on a terrible creature that killed his parents years ago, and, simultaneously, becoming king of the island.
The game on console is hovering around the R700 mark; however, if you feel like diving into Skull Island, for whatever reason, I’d recommend rather picking it up on Steam for its currently discounted price of R264.
