Pete Hines is retiring after 24 years at Bethesda as the head of publishing.
Bethesda has been on the tip of many people’s tongues the past couple of months with their not-so-great Redfall release and the highly anticipated Starfield release. The recent purchase by Microsoft in 2021 is still fresh in people’s minds as Microsoft continues acquiring more big-name companies.
Hines has been head of publishing since last year, but before that, he served as the senior vice president of marketing for 23 of the 24 years he worked at Bethesda.
In a post on X, Hines explained how he will be “exploring interests and passions” and “taking more time to enjoy life”. Sounds like the ideal retirement.
Hines also mentions how “this is not goodbye”, and he’s excited to see what Bethesda and its employees come up with in the future.

Known for posting doctors’ notes to his social media pages for Bethesda fans to use whenever a new game was released, Bethesda has, in turn, replied to his retirement post with a wholesome doctor’s note excusing Hines from all future work.
Many fans wish Hines all the best as he takes on this next adventure of his and thank him and Bethesda, for giving so many adventures to everyone to experience themselves.
