Deep Rock Galactic Making a Vampire Survivors Spin Off

I will admit that I used this article as an excuse to play a game for an hour first thing in the morning. However, it’s my job to do that, so I have absolutely zero guilt.

Deep Rock Galactic, a co-op first-person shooter with “badass space dwarves” and an endless horde of alien monsters at your back, has been a cult favourite for nearly four years. Now, the developers have decided to create a spin-off of the game, ala Vampire Survivors.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors doesn’t hide the spin-off idea very well, but I suppose that’s quite typical of a bunch of dwarves, isn’t it?

The game launched its Demo today in light of Steam Next Fest, and while it’s not 100% perfect, it’s a great load of fun

The game itself doesn’t necessarily add anything new to the “survivor” genre, but what it does do well is keep that classic dwarven humour from the original game and give it a different camera angle.

I also like that they’ve kept mining in the game, which adds a different tactical aspect. Yes, you do need to mine to collect the minerals that you’ll use to upgrade your overall character, but it also allows you to create new routes and clever traps for the besties below.

The demo only allows you to play as the Scout for now, but the full game looks to have a lot more classes and subclasses for players to choose from. You can wishlist the game on Steam now, or if you’re craving that dwarven space action immediately, you can grab the demo as well.
