Yesterday saw a rather significant update coming to the Java Edition of Minecraft, bringing multiple social and gameplay changes.
Some of the more notable changes came with a new reporting system for player skins and usernames, altered mob attack ranges and fixes for sculk-based block vibrations.
While many of these changes will become permanent editions to the core game, some remain experimental and can be toggled on and off, such as the villager trading rebalancing, which requires additional effort to acquire high-quality items and gear.
The update in question, Minecraft 1.20.2, is currently available on Java Edition, while the Bedrock Edition is expected to receive similar additions shortly.

Some of the changes include:
- Player-based reporting: Users can now report offensive usernames and skins, which Mojang’s dedicated team will review.
- Increased generation of diamond ore in deepslate layers.
- Changes to the curing of zombie villagers and their trading price discount.
- Custom sound effects for sponge and wet sponge blocks.
- Waterlogging of barrier blocks in Creative Mode.
- Adjustments to the position of entities riding on other entities.
- Fundamental alterations to mob attack ranges.
- Improved network optimization, resulting in faster game world loading and reduced timeouts.
- Fixes for vibrations sent by blocks/entities to sculk-based blocks.
- Updates to generated structure icons for better clarity on explorer maps.
- Ability to remember the last 50 commands entered across game sessions.
- Introduction of the /random command to randomize values and sequences.
- Experimental Features, when enabled, apply the villager trade rebalancing to specific professions and introduce new trade requirements based on villager biomes.
- Swamp and jungle villagers must be bred to obtain certain items.
- Cartographers offer more explorer maps, and The Wandering Trader has lower prices and a more comprehensive range of valuable items.
Minecraft 1.20.2 is available now on PC for Java Edition.
