Some Awesome Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed Out On While Playing Grand Theft Auto 5

Rockstar has always had a habit of sneaking funny and discreet references to their other titles and pop culture in general into their games, and Grand Theft Auto 5 is no different.

On Sunday, the game will have been around for ten years now. Even though you might think you know everything there to know about the game or have found all the secrets, here are some of our favourite Easter Eggs that might have fallen between the cracks.

So, if you’re looking to dive back into the game for its tenth anniversary, here are some things you should keep your eyes open for. Enjoy.

Nothing To See Here, It’s Just A Board. Nothing More

This is such a small and obscure Easter Egg, but that makes it much more exhilarating when you find it in the game.

If you head over to the Sandy Shores satellite tower and look at the circuit box, you’ll see an additional sticker on the box that reads 1.21 GW.

Fans of Back to the Future will notice that this is Doc Brown’s famous electric measurement from the films.

Something Evil Is Lurking Around Here

If there is one thing I love more than playing games, it’s watching Serial Killer documentaries, and if you’re like me, you’ll love this find in GTA V.

If you hang around in Blaine County long enough, you’ll soon discover strange and cryptic messages. These are messages left by the Los Santos’ Serial Killer, and there is a really fun questline to find by following it all.

Cameo! There’s a Cameo Here!

There is a blink, and you’ll miss it Red Dead Redemption cameo hidden in GTA V.

If you take the time to look through Franklin’s bookshelf while at the Vinewood Hills condo, you might see a book on the shelf titled Red Dead written by J. Marston – a recurring character in the Red Dead series and a central character and the primary protagonist of Red Dead Redemption.

Sometimes Things Get A Little… Supernatural?

This is an Easter Egg specifically for fans of the supernatural and murder mysteries. If you head over to the summit of Mount Gordo and wait between 11 p.m. and midnight, you’ll be able to find a ghost hovering above a message written in blood.

The bloody message reads “Jack”, as in Jack Cranel, the husband of the dead woman whose ghost you just managed to see.

The Hills May Have Eyes, But This Mountain Has A Whole Face

Grand Theft Auto has one super obvious Easter Egg hidden in it. If you travel to the side of Mt. Chiliad, you’ll likely find a random face on it.

This face is Breaking Bad’s Jesse Pinkman. If you’re a fan of the show, you’ll appreciate how remarkable and fitting this little Easter Egg truly is.

One For No Country for Old Men Fans

This might go unnoticed if you’re not a fan of No Country for Old Men. Still, head to the Mount Chiliad State Wilderness just northeast of the highway bridge.

You’ll soon find four crashed cars and several dead bodies – although you might have to return a few times because it’s randomised.

Fans of No Country for Old Men will recognise this as the opening scene of the movie and book. And just like the source material, there is a briefcase full of money waiting for you to snatch up hidden in the chaos.

One Of These Things Just Doesn’t Belong Here

One of the best and strangest Easter Eggs can be found just minutes after you start playing the game.

While you’re driving towards the train tracks during the game’s prologue, if you go off course and take a detour down the right side of the hill and then head across the frozen river until you’re under the bridge, there will be something cool waiting for you to discover it.

Look under the ice; you’ll find an alien frozen under the water and looking up at you. You’ll need to be fast, though, because the mission will fail if you stay off the road for too long.
