In today’s video game news, I never expected to be writing; Atari has just announced a sequel to a game that put video games on the map, Pong.
Titled Qomp2, the Pong sequel is described by Atari as being a “creative sequel to the seminal classic Pong that asks the question, what would happen if the pong ball escaped the paddles?”
Coming to PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, as well as the Atari VCS and mobile in 2024, Qomp2 will take players on a journey of a Pong ball, navigating your way through mazes and obstacles along the way.
According to Atari, Qomp2 aims to capture the simplicity of Pong by giving players only two button options while adventuring through over 30 levels set across four distinct worlds.
In a statement, the CEO of Atari, Wade Rosen, said:
“It’s been over 50 years, and the simple, joyful gameplay of Pong still captivates players and game developers. With qomp2, I am glad we’re able to continue that creative and thoughtful storytelling.”
Now we want to know from you, what was the first game you remember playing? Let us know in the comments.
