Quake fans rejoice! We’ll be getting a remastered version of the classic Quake 2 quite soon.
Picked up in June by Gematsu, the South Korean ratings board, GRAC, had a listing for “Quake 2 Remastered” and now there are documents out there from PEGI and the ESRB for the same game, but simply titled “Quake 2”.
According to the documents, the planned release date of the rating is the 11th of August, which perfectly aligns with Quake Con this year. Quake Con will be starting on the 10th of August and will run until the 13th. It will also be the first physical Quake Con in over 3 years, thanks to our good old pal Covid.
We’ll likely be seeing the announcement of the enhanced version of Quake 2 at Quake Con this year. Gamers on all platforms will also be excited to hear that the game should follow in the footsteps of Quake 1, meaning that Quake 2 will release on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
In the never-ending fandom war of Quake vs Unreal, all I’m going to say is that Quake is getting remastered while Unreal plays around with Justin Bieber emotes… [LOL…Buuuurn – Ed]
