Just a week ago, we reported that Intel had announced its leave from the Next Unit of Computing or NUC business. Many fans of small form factor PCs took to the internet to air their disappointment at this move, and Intel took notice.
In a press release by Intel, it seems that the NUC is getting a second life. Thanks to an agreement between Intel and Asus where Asus will sell and support 10th to 13th Gen NUC product lines while giving Asus a non-exclusive license to design future NUC systems, Asus NUC BU has been born.
Overall, this is excellent news for mini PC lovers everywhere. With Asus at the helm, the possibilities are truly endless. We might finally see a proper gaming NUC because Asus is no stranger to small form factor PCs; the ROG Ally is a testament to that.
Only time will tell what this NUC partnership between Intel and Asus will bring. Still, if it’s done right, a NUC gaming machine could be a real competitor to console staples like PlayStation and Xbox.
