A New, Very Limited Edition, CPU From AMD, the Ryzen 5 5600X3D

AMD may have just released one of the best budget CPUs out there, but it’s an AM4 Ryzen 5 chip. We spotted this news on Digital Trends.

The newly released Ryzen 5 5600X3D may not be built on the latest generation technology coming out of the AMD factory, but it’s putting up some serious numbers compared to other CPUs in the same price range.

If we were to compare it to the older Ryzen 5 5600X and the Ryzen 7 5800X3D on paper, there’s one main stand-out feature, the 96MB L3 cache, that’s three times more than the standard 5600X – Which means this CPU is a gaming powerhouse.

Tom’s Hardware did a bit of testing with this new CPU and the results were pretty impressive. On average the CPU was pushing out 181 fps across Tom’s Hardware’s 1080p testing package. That means it was almost 30 frames faster than the previous budget favourite, the Intel Core i5 13400, which averaged 153fps.

To add more to the weirdness, AMD is currently limiting the CPU sales to Micro Center in the US. So, not only is it built on an older chip base but it’s a limited edition, very limited.

What could’ve been the best budget gaming CPU out there, as the CPU struggles with general PC productivity, is now just a rare loot drop that you can only get if you have a connection way over in the United States.
