The latest rumour setting the internet alight revolves around a potential leak of the next Nintendo Switch console, which suggests its controllers might have scroll wheels near its trigger buttons.
It’s worth noting that Nintendo has been mute on the possibility of the next generation of Nintendo Switch consoles, but that hasn’t put a damper on the rumours.
The Nintendo Switch is now seven years old. It has started to show its age and struggle to keep up with the latest games released, so it only makes sense that fans have been eagerly awaiting an announcement of a new and improved console.
The latest rumour doesn’t come from the usual Nintendo leakers on Twitter that many have come to expect leaks and rumours from; instead, it comes from a supposed TSA agent who posted about their findings anonymously.

According to the anonymous post, the TSA agent discovered an unusual electronic device in a pelican case, which triggered the metal detector. When the TSA agent wanted to check the passenger’s bag, they insisted on a private screening, during which the suspected Nintendo console was revealed.
The console in question was unbranded and quite large, resembling a Wi-Fi modem and almost on par with the Xbox One in size, hinting at Nintendo’s exit from the hybrid console business. It came with a mostly standard game controller, which appeared unfinished.
According to the TSA agent, the console looked like the Nintendo Switch that gamers know and love, but with scroll wheels positioned near the trigger buttons, almost like the ones found on your average computer mouse.
Because the console was unbranded, the TSA agent didn’t think much of it until he noticed that the passenger with the console also had business cards showing he held a job in Nintendo’s R&D department.
This story stands in direct contrast to all the other Nintendo Switch 2 rumours that suggest fans will receive what is essentially just an upgraded version of the current console. If the leak is true, this hardware is likely just a developer kit and not an actual console itself.
What do you think about this? Could scroll wheels be the next big addition coming to the Nintendo Switch? Let us know in the comments below.
