It’s a celebration! Niantic has just announced that Pokemon GO will soon kick off its seventh-anniversary festivities and shared some juicy details about what players can expect when the party officially starts.
This celebration couldn’t come at a better time, as the Pokemon GO community has recently found themselves unhappy with the company. We all know there is no better way to place angry gamers than with in-game events and activities.
A current point of contention with Niantic is the company’s announcement that it would be laying off employees and closing down two titles, NBA All-World and Marvel: World of Heroes. This comes after several gameplay changes implemented by Niantic have disappointed fans with Pokemon GO.

According to the official Pokemon GO Twitter account, the 7th-anniversary party will last for almost a week, starting on the 6th of July and running until the 12th. Fans can expect to see the in-game debut of costumed Wartortle and Blastoise, and gamers wanting to add these Pokemon to their Pokedex can do so by evolving a Squirtle wearing a party hat.
Players can also expect to see costumed Squirtle and Pikachu appearing more frequently in the wild and an increase in shiny Pokemon.
It’s our seventh anniversary, Trainers! 🥳

Each event day will also feature more frequent spawns of three starter Pokemon from each generation. The raids during the celebration will also include Gen 1 Pokemon as the bosses, meaning fans can encounter the generation’s legendary birds in Five-Star Raids and Mega Blastoise in Mega Raids.
The celebration will also include in-game bonuses, anniversary-themed Field Research tasks, and paid activities like Timed Research and Masterwork Research stories.
Pokemon GO is available to download for free across Android and iOS devices.
