Over the last few years, the internet has been rife with rumours and whispers about a virtual reality version of Assassin’s Creed; and in 2020, thanks to Ubisoft’s offhand comment about considering VR, the talks took new life.
It’s not surprising because, at its core, Assassin’s Creed would be a perfect fit for VR thanks to the game’s parkour-style action and stealth. On the first of June this year, Ubisoft confirmed that a VR spin-off was in the works, but they also revealed a brief teaser during the Meta showcase.
However, not much was revealed in this teaser, and all fans could walk away with was that the VR title would go by Assassin’s Creed Nexus. Today, fans got more information about the game during the Ubisoft Forward event, where the developers confirmed that the game would take place from a first-person perspective, as most VR games are.
Ubisoft also announced that players could jump, sneak and murder their way through various beloved historical areas by taking on the role of three different fan-favourite assassins, Ezio, Connor and Kassandra.
During the event, Ubisoft Montreal Community Developer Clement Dagonneau also took the chance to further elaborate on how Assassin’s Creed Nexus will be taking VR to new levels by allowing players to experience the rush of Assassin’s Creed’s signature stealth and parkour from inside the shoes of the revered assassins.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus will launch later in the year exclusively for the Meta Quest.
