So last month, I accepted rotten fruit thrown in my face when I publicly admitted that I had only recently embarked on my personal Anime journey. A month later, I’m a year older, much wiser, and I’ve got even more Anie shows under my belt.
After finishing with Goblin Slayer and Higurashi When They Cry, I started scrolling through Crunchyroll and Netflix, looking for my next fix. Once again, I’ve decided to take you along on my journey.
For those who don’t already know, Crunchyroll is, at its core, Netflix for Anime. It’s a subscription service focused on East Asian media like Japanese Anime. One of the major perks of the service is that many of the Anime available on it can be watched dubbed in English – something I rely on so that I watch while I work.
However, thanks to the recent Funimation/Crunchyroll merger, there aren’t many new Anime shows coming to the service this month, meaning most of my binging will be on Netflix and exploring the Anime released there.
But that’s enough talking, so without further ado, here are the three new Anime releasing in June 2023 that I’m going to be binging:
Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King is a movie based heavily on the much-loved Black Clover series.
Set in a world where magic is and controls everything, the story revolves around a boy named Asta. Asta was born with absolutely no magic, but despite this, he wants to become the Wizard King to overcome adversity, prove his true power and keep his promise to his friends.
Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series

When searching for new Anime to watch, it’s always comforting to find something I already know and love, and this month, that comfort watch comes in the form of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series.
Now Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series isn’t a new Anime, but I feel okay including it on this list because, on the 23rd of June, Netflix will drop the final dubbed episodes.
In these final few episodes, we will see Ash’s historic win at the Pokémon World Coronation Series, which will officially crown him Champion and complete his life-long journey. It’s an iconic story of friendship and perseverance and is almost over, making this a bitter-sweet watch.
Ōoku: The Inner Chambers

Finally, June will be the month I watch Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, a highly anticipated manga adaptation, coming exclusively to Netflix. For those who don’t know, Ōoku: The Inner Chambers is a long-running Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Fumi Yoshinaga.
It follows an alternate history of early modern Japan in which an unknown disease has killed most of the male population, leading to a matriarchal society in which the Ōoku becomes a harem of men serving the now female Shogun. If that doesn’t sound great, I don’t know what does.
