‘Tis the season of the showcase, and Warhammer, yes, that Warhammer, have also hitched a ride on the showcase train. Amongst a Waaaagh load of updates to current games, there were eight juicy features that stole the show.
The showcase revealed all sorts of new goodies to sink our 40k teeth into. Ranging from mobile games to card games to a slick-looking new RTS built from the ground up.
The eight juicy bits:
- Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin
- Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
- Total War: Warhammer III – New Hero
- PowerWash Simulator x Warhammer 40,000
- Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – New Content
- Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader
- Warhammer 40,000: Warpforge
- Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
Of the main eight titles listed above, I’m most excited about Speed Freeks and Realms of Ruin. Of course, Power Wash Simulator in the 40K universe does sound like a Sunday well spent, but I’m keener on causing the mess than actually cleaning it up.
Speed Freeks is a vehicular combat game focused around the Orks of the 40K universe. It looks like a few of them got a little bored waiting for things to smash and so they’ve turned on each other in all-out daka-daka mayhem.
It’s available to wishlist, as well as playtest, over on Steam now, but it will be a free-to-play game on launch.
Realms of Ruin is a new RTS game coming from the Warhammer team. This one specifically piques my interest as I was an avid Dawn of War player back in my pimply years, and these days I have started collecting miniatures from the Age of Sigmar universe. In fact, I just picked up my new Stormcast warband this week, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Combining my two favourite Warhammer things into one sounds like something I’d order off the menu, and I’ve already signed up for the beta. Maybe I’ll see you out there. Hail Sigmar!
Check out the complete showcase here if you’re more of a Space Marine fan.
