It’s always something to be proud of when a game developer keeps things close to the chest and catches fans by surprise. That’s precisely what Arrowhead Games pulled off with their recent announcement of Helldivers 2.
In a recent live event, Arrowhead Games came in strong by not only announcing Helldivers 2 but also by announcing a release window and showing gameplay. The original Helldivers was released in 2015, and since then, fans have been calling out for more of the top-down sci-fi shooter.
Helldivers was also one of the first Sony titles to be ported to PC, and even though the game is now pretty old, it still pulls some solid numbers on Steam every month. Last night, during the PlayStation Showcase event last night, Helldivers 2 was announced alongside a 2023 release date.
The announcement trailer also included plenty of gameplay footage. It also revealed that the game would again be coming to PC on launch. Unlike the original, Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter and will occur across multiple settings, such as deserts and jungles.
Helldivers 2 will be launching for PC and PlayStation 5 sometime this year.
