Alan Wake 2 is a game that many have been eagerly waiting for ever since Remedy Entertainment announced it at The Game Awards over two years ago. At the same time, a two-year wait is nothing in the gaming industry; gamers have been waiting for Beyond Good & Evil 2 since before iPhones were a thing.
Like a dream coming true, the announcement of Alan Wake 2 surprised fans of the original cult classic, who finally had confirmation that they would be able to play the game before retirement.
However, I would hardly be writing this story if that was all there was to it. Since that reveal two years ago, Remedy Entertainment has been suspiciously quiet regarding the game, and fans have not seen any more gameplay footage. While Remedy Entertainment offers updates about the game often, all those updates merely state that the game is still on track.
Now franchise fans have received their first real information to get excited about. That tidbit of information comes from Matthew Porretta, Alan Wake’s voice actor.
In an interview with Matthew Porretta for the Monsters, Madness, and Magic podcast, the voice actor let slip that Alan Wake 2 is set to have an October release date. An October release makes perfect sense for a survival horror game.
With Alan Wake 2 nearing the end of its development cycle, it seems likely that fans will get to see and hear more about the game soon. I, for one, cannot wait.
Alan Wake 2 will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
