Grand Theft Auto Passes Yet Another Sales Milestone

In a world where gaming has become, frankly, disposable, with games being rotated in and out faster than Netflix changing out shows, it’s crazy to think that The Grand Theft Auto series is not only still popular but breaking records like a game that’s just been released instead of a franchise whose latest entry is already ten years old.

As part of Take-Two Interactive’s latest quarterly earnings report, the game developers announced that The Grand Theft Auto series had officially surpassed 400 million in lifetime sales. Grand Theft Auto 5 has been a monumental success for the company since its debut when it brought in over $1 billion in retail sales just days after its release.

As it currently stands, Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most profitable entertainment products of all time and has shipped over five million new copies in this quarter alone. Within this report, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that work on the next instalment in the iconic series is already well underway, further lending towards the narrative online that the game is aiming for a 2024 release, although nothing has yet been confirmed.

The astounding success of The Grand Theft Auto series has resulted in Take-Two Interactive hitting $1,45 billion in revenue this quarter, putting the company in a powerful position as it continues to work on the next Grand Theft Auto game.

But now we want to know from you, do you play Grand Theft Auto 5, and if so, do you think it deserves all the success it’s been reporting ten years on? Let us know in the comments.
