Is there any better reason for a gamer to go on an adventure and leave the safety and comfort of their gaming room than to attend a gaming event hosted by Nintendo? We don’t think so.
To celebrate the upcoming launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a game that was voted as the most anticipated game of the year by The Game Awards, Nintendo is throwing not one, but two parties – and unlike that birthday party in primary school, you’re invited.
For those who don’t know, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a Nintendo Switch exclusive title that is the sequel to the much-beloved The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which was released in 2017.
While much of what gamers loved from the original will be carried through to the sequel, the game has been expanded to allow for a heavier focus on vertical exploration this time.
But back to the party, or parties, if you will. Nintendo South Africa is inviting you, yes you, to stand up, get dressed as your favourite Legend of Zelda character, or just change out of your PJS and join other Zelda fans and Nintendo gamers for a fun-filled day of Nintendo epicness.
These two events will feature everything from hands-on gameplay of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, commentary by special guest hosts, Zelda-themed trivia and, of course, cosplay. During the events, there will also be a few epic prizes up for grabs and some light refreshments because, let’s be honest, no one wants to witness a hungry gamer out in the wild.
As previously mentioned, two events will happen so that no one needs to miss out just because of where they live. Unless you live in Durban, then it sucks to be you.
Local streamer Furious Kitty will host the Johannesburg event, which will take place on the 13th of May.
Time: 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
Where: Nintendo Switch Pop-Up Zone, Sandton City Shopping Centre

The Capetown event will be hosted by local content creators Jess and Grant Hinds and will happen on the 13th of May.
Time: 11:00 am to 2 pm
Where: iStore Queens (1st Floor), Dock Road, V&A Waterfront

We want to know if you will attend one of these two events. Or are you the poor unfortunate soul who lives in Durban? Let us know in the comments.
