Five June Events That Will Curb The E3 Cravings

With E3 out of the picture for 2023, it looks like we will have to fill the gap with a few other events. Luckily enough, most companies are hosting their own smaller events, and you could possibly think of it as only visiting the stalls you really wanted to anyway.

IGN Summer of Gaming (1 June – 30 June)

IGN is hosting their “IGN Summer of Gaming” which runs from the 1st of June all the way to the 30th of June, meaning there will be a butt-tonne of new games being revealed, interviews and early access reviews on the cards – as it runs all month long, you can expect new and juicy goodness daily. Check out last year’s announcements here.

Summer Game Fest (8 June – 9 June)

The Summer Game Fest has been confirmed this year for June 8th and is kicking off at “noon”. For us winter bunnies living in South Africa, that’s 9PM. Featuring a free livestream hosted at the Youtube Theater, presented by Geoff Keighley. With big-name sponsors behind the Summer Game Fest, you can expect a few massive announcements. To stay up to date, check out their website.

The Future Games Show (10 June)

The Future Games Show is dedicated to showing the world new and innovative games that aren’t typical of what we usually see in triple-A releases. This June stream will be the second of their three planned streams for 2023, featuring over 400 games between them. The Future Games Show has promised “tweaks to the show format, ” meaning we may be in for a few surprises, not just from the games themselves.

Xbox Showcase (11 June)

One of the most exciting events on the lineup is the Xbox showcase. Last year’s summer showcase featured over 30 new games hitting the Xbox library, and with numbers like that, I can’t wait to see what they announce this year. Along with the added benefit of most of these games, usually coming to Game Pass on day one, it’s definitely going to be something I’ll be watching. Xbox has also promised a dedicated Starfield Direct which will happen immediately after the showcase, so if I were you, I would bring extra popcorn.

Ubisoft Forward (12 June)

The Ubisoft Forward is set for the 12th of June this year and you can be sure it will be live-streamed to their Twitch page, but Ubisoft has yet to release an official time yet. With games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Skull and Bones and The Division Heartland all being spoken about, I can’t wait to see what Ubisoft have under the sleeves. I’m hoping for some incredible gameplay footage and early release dates, but I guess we’ll just have to watch to find out.

I’m confident that with so many new game announcements, dev interviews and hidden indie gems on the cards, we won’t be too sad that there’s no E3 this year. But if you are feeling a little teary eyed, just pop on to our choc-full website where we’ll be featuring everything that does get announced during all these events.
